Most people find talking about themselves to be weird and awkward. I am the exact opposite. I enjoy it immensely. There is something about sharing experiences with others. It is interesting to learn and hear what people went through and even learn things about them. So I'm going to share some interesting stuff about me. My name is Jayde. I am seventeen and I was born on March 19,1997. I have an annoying little sister, she really isn't little but I still call her my little sister. I am a very simple person. I am an outgoing and curious person about everyone and everything. I play softball and volleyball. I played softball in high school and loved every minute of it. Anyone on a team can tell you that your teammates become family and you become very thankful for them. I grew up playing softball. I don't remember ever not playing. I was always a very nature athlete. Although I enjoy softball it is not what I'm most passionate about. If there is one thing that I am passionate about more than usual it is people. I know that sounds very odd but listen. I’ve always been fascinated with the human mind and the actions of people. In my free time I enjoy little mysteries. Im the first one to want to find out what something does or where somewhere leads to. I’m very cautious though, I do not enjoy scary situations. I really like hanging out and meeting new people. I enjoy getting to know new people and hearing about them. Theres something about the way a person talks about themselves that makes it so much more interesting then lets say reading it or hearing it from someone else. I’ve actually been around so many people I have multiple nicknames. They range from “jay” to “JD” to “jaydiegirl”. That ones my favorite, my family just decided that“jaydiegirl” sounded cute and I guess I agree.
Writing has always been a problem for me. I guess thats why I'm so talkative, I hope it distracts people from my horrible run on sentences and bad spelling. I try to make it work but end up failing. I outline when I'm confused, but when it's a topic I'm really into like, myself, its easy because I know all the answers. I always had great English teachers, it was never my least favorite class. I enjoy reading, listening and talking but writing not so much. My teachers helped us write papers and on many occasions and helped us expand our points to help make our arguments better and more in dept. We always had multiple copies. They taught the grammar rules and oh, my favorite, the five paragraph structure. I call that a lie because I told them in college I was going to write five paragraphs, they laughed at me and told me to go ahead and see my grade. Lets stop talking about high school because I might start to miss it...maybe.
I grew up listen to country music with my mother and R&B and hip-hop with my father. My music taste ranges from Keith Urban to Usher to straight rap like Chief Keef. I will admit this, even if it’s a little embarrassing my favorite artist is Taylor Swift. Yes, I know, please hold back the laughter. I use all the social media to see if she's either making a new soundtrack or going on tour. I'm a closet fan so I don't post or try to talk to her. I do enjoy seeing what she's doing on snapchat, twitter and Instagram. Speaking of social media I'm on the “wave”. I go on snapchat and twitter multiple times a day and write and snap people constantly.
During this semester of writing I hope to sharpen and better my writing skills. I know I need to work on putting my thoughts into words without sounded illiterate. I don't believe I am a horrible writer but I need a lot of help. I would rate myself a solid C. Most of that grade is just because I know i try very hard. I know practice makes perfect and that is what i intend to do.
Jayde, I love Taylor Swift too!!! In fact, I post her music: We're Never Getting Back Together and Everything Has Changed are two of my favorite songs by her!!
ReplyDeleteYou will do well in this course.
One of your battles will be overcoming your fear of making spelling mistakes and trying to write a "perfect" paper. Rest assured, there is no such thing. Hopefully, I will teach you how to trust yourself as a writer and how to be more confident.
Everything is a process. Trust it and trust me.
I look forward to working with you this semester.
Warm regards,
Prof. Young
